This thought came to me because of CR's YouTube channel, viewCR. Starting in 2010, all videos on viewCR will be uploaded in 1080p HD, which is pretty damn fantastic. As a result of this, I've been wondering... can something like a website layout, which is purely visual, be designed in HD?
See, HD isn't just limited to video any more. All the time, you see systems that can output HD audio and display HD pictures and photos. So I'm wondering, this means you must be able to create these HD pictures. Theoretically, if every image for the new layout was designed, for example, four times bigger than it would actually be displayed, are these therefore HD images?
For example, the new site's banner is 950x100 at the moment. I've just redesigned it four times bigger - 3800x400. The quality is stunning and I reckon it'd pass for HD quality. Would this work? If I finished that, shrunk it back down to 950x100 and used it as the banner, would it still, theoretically, still be an HD image?
I'd love to know your thoughts on this because I want to know how to best go about making the images for the new layout. Any advice, comments on the HD argument, anything is welcome, so go for your life.
Cheers,
Jack
